The Feast of The Transfiguration 2023
The 'Feast of The Transfiguration' was commemorated on Sunday, 6th August 2023, at 6:30 p.m., at All Saints, Parramatta. Grateful thanks to Rev. Owen Goddard for graciously making available to us, this beautiful Church, and for being the Celebrant at the Service.
An intimate gathering of under 50 souls, was blessed and inspired, by an hour of reverent worship; stirred by the message of an erudite preacher, renewed by The Lord's Supper, uplifted by 4 great hymns and strengthened through cheerful fellowship and light refreshment, after.
Our thanks to the STC OBA NSW/ACT for marking this important, Thomian festival with appropriate gravitas.
Many of our choristers turned out to sing with conviction and skill. Thank you. We gratefully acknowledge the participation and support of members of the Choir of St. Paul's, Castle Hill. Godelieve Ghavalas played magnificently! Thank you.
The Committee and well-wishers pulled out all stops to ensure a fitting observance. Congratulations.
Kumar’s welcome was winsome and set the scene for a worshipful experience. Ramesh Abayasekara read the Collect.
Fr Don Shan Samarasinghe, OSB read the Gospel and led Prayers. David Sansoni read the Alternate Creed, Philippians 2.
Rev. Peter Inman delivered a thought-provoking Sermon. Our own Sobhini Sinnatamby captured the essence in expressions of great depth and beauty. Sobhini wrote:
"It was a beautiful service with much loved hymns of praise to our Almighty Lord, a brilliant message connecting the transfiguration at which Thomas was not present, and was also absent when Christ, post-resurrection revealed Himself to the disciples. Yet it was Thomas who took the gospel to Asia and in whose honour the school is named.”
